The Second City’s 91st Mainstage Review, World’s Gone Wild, is taking Toronto by storm! Full of music, improv, sketch and more, World’s Gone Wild has something for everyone! I got to ask one of the cast members and creators Chelsea Larkin about the show, why it’s so important right now, and what you can expect from World’s Gone Wild!

1. Could you please introduce yourself to my readers and tell us a bit about your role with World’s Gone Wild?
Hello! I am Chelsea Larkin, one of the ensemble cast members of the 91st Second City Toronto’s revue, Worlds Gone Wild! The cast wrote this show together, and I play many roles in a variety of sketches in the show, (my fave being an existential singing pigeon, of course ).
2. How did you get started in theatre/comedy?
I began as many comedians begin, being the funny ham kid who enjoyed making the other kids laugh at recess, or putting on a little skit for family members, and playing make-believe any chance I could. My wise parents put me in drama camp, cut to me in school plays , cut to me doing a theatre degree at McMaster University and then doing the Humber College comedy program, to taking classes at Second City, to creating my own comedy troupes and hustling to perform everywhere I could. Then I was cast in a family show at Second City and was lucky enough to be a part of several shows over the years with the company until I finally made it to the Mainstage. It’s been a great journey and I’ve loved every step and twist and turn, and where it lead me .
3. What’s been your favourite part about working on World’s Gone Wild so far?
My favourite part of working on this show has been creating moments together with my castmates . It’s such a unique magic when 6 different senses of humour meld together into one scene that works and the audience loves. I also like being the singing pigeon, as aforementioned.

4. Why do you think we need a show like this right now?
I think as cheesy as it sounds, the title of our show accurately matches what’s going on out there right now, the world has most definitely gone wild. Our show is fun, it’s relatable, it’s an escape, and though our show can’t and doesn’t fully ignore some of the not-so-great things going on in the world right now, we find a way to make the audience comfortable to laugh and unite. I think it’s cathartic and definitely needed.
5. What do you hope audiences take away from World’s Gone Wild?
I hope the audience has fun, I hope they laugh so hard they are surprised, and I hope they feel such a release and connection with us and our show ! Especially the pigeon part.
