Heaven – The Theatre Centre

The gasp of breath, the startling slap of flesh on flesh, the stamp of foot to floor—these are the sounds of vulnerability and power that score Heaven. Rooted in the idea of heaven as a site of union, the choreography invites audiences into an intimate encounter with the body—its limits, its desires, its failures, and its need for connection—offering a viewing experience that is direct, unmediated, and deeply human.

Humans, performers, are bound by our bodies. No matter how closely we press into or empathize with another, we remain fundamentally alone in our experience. Performed naked and without music, the dancers communicate with a sensual, economical physicality that lands viscerally. The work, dramatically stark and exposed, surprises and seduces with primal imagery and provocative candour.

Getting To Normal – World On Fire Theatre Collective

A new play, inspired by true events, written and directed by George F. Walker, and presented by the World on Fire Theatre Collective.

Amber & Mickie are young, married, and broke. They have a daughter, Evie, and are at odds as to how best to raise her. Throughout his life, Michael felt like he could never catch a break, screwing up one opportunity after another. He shares his troubled past with his psychiatrist, Rita, as he seeks to unburden himself and attain redemption, reconciliation, and possibly even a sliver of happiness. But Rita is at a loss as to how best to help him. After all, how do you help a guy who can’t even help himself?

Measure for Measure – House + Body and Crow’s Theatre

Adapted and directed by House + Body Artistic Director–and Crow’s Theatre Associate Artistic Director–Christopher Manousos, this inventive staging playfully sets Shakespeare’s 1604 drama of justice and morality inside a contemporary sound studio where five actors take on all twenty characters throughout a live radio stream. In Shakespeare’s story, Isabella’s brother is sentenced to death, and she embarks on a journey to save his life but is forced to confront a system where authority wavers and moral certainty erodes. While placing this narrative front and center, the audience experiences the classic play through the actress stepping in at the last minute to play the role of Isabella. With no rehearsal, she must quickly adapt to this high-pressure environment, but things get complicated when the action off-stage becomes as heated as they are onstage. In this fast, sharp, and darkly funny re-telling, MEASURE FOR MEASURE asks who holds power – and who pays the price.

This celebrated drama is a provocative examination of social hierarchy and the masks people wear to survive in a world filled with inequality.

Piggyland is an exciting new drama by Graeme Powell. Inspired by true events that took place in

Sunderland, Ontario in the early 1960s, Piggyland is a tale of greed, deception and the pursuit of dreams.

Concocted by career conman John Laun, the Piggyland farm raised over a million dollars from investors eager to double, or even triple their investment. Instead, they lost it all.

The mysterious John Laun vanished without a trace…and so did all the money. Remember, If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is…
