Pochsy IV: UNPLUGGED – VideoCabaret
Pochsy worked at Mercury Packers. Where she packed mercury. Now her employer has moved offshore, and Pochsy must grapple (in her eerily screwball way) with her industrial past and God’s broken promise of a five-star future.
Combining such disparate elements as magical realism, satire and horror, Pochsy has won a devoted audience, numerous production and literary nominations and awards, as well as a reputation for original, hilarious and provocative entertainments.

Garden of Vanished Pleasures – Soundstreams
Garden of Vanished Pleasures is consummate opera, an emotional journey inspired by the life and work of English filmmaker and queer rights activist Derek Jarman, making its world premiere in the theatre. Conceived and devised by U.K./ Canadian director Tim Albery, Garden of Vanished Pleasures blends the works of two brilliant composers: Cecilia Livingston and Donna McKevitt. Livingston writes deeply felt songs of love and loss, and they chime perfectly with McKevitt’s heart-aching songs that use texts drawn from Jarman’s own journals. The texts cover a wide range of expressions, from longing and loss to anger over society’s inequities — universal themes which continue to resonate for our time. A finalist for Opera America’s 2022 Award for Excellence in Digital Opera, the illustrious cast includes stars from the world of opera: sopranos Mireille Asselin and Danika Lorèn, and counter-tenor Daniel Cabena.

Keffiyeh/Made in China – Teesri Duniya Theatre
Keffiyeh/Made In China is a compilation of 10 short plays that weave an unfolding story. It explores how ordinary life, even the most intimate relationships and everyday occurrences, is destabilised under colonization and displacement. Audiences get an honest window into insightful everyday stories… A mother and father buying their son his favourite fruit; siblings arguing with one another about who is the better writer; a business owner trying to sell the latest trend; parents decorating a child’s room; a couple reaching for intimacy on a night without the kids. These are unsettling, touching, humorous, heart-wrenching and beautifully mundane moments, offered against a backdrop of grief, death, rage and hope.
